Fifty Years of Making Pots
In the fall of 1974, I enrolled in a pottery course at Riverside Church in Manhattan. As I approached my first half-century of making pots, I thought I would try to explore what it had all been about. This book is the result.
The theme of the book is how an artist or craftsman decides what to make. In my case it has been a dialog between childhood influences, the influences of potters and other artists I admire, and what my customers are willing to buy.
The book is profusely illustrated in color with work by many wonderful potters and a few of my own as well.
